There are many varieties of natural veneer, including imported and domestic wood. The origin is different, the variety is different, and the price of veneer cut from logs varies greatly.

White wood: In contrast to mahogany, it refers to furniture materials with a pale white color. Although white wood is not as good as mahogany, it is still an excellent furniture material. White wood is also divided into hardwood and softwood, such as teak, walnut, elm, beech, mahogany, oak, apricot, catalpa, nanmu, cypress, catalpa, camphor wood, etc., which are hard woods; pine, fir , Paulownia, willow, etc., belong to soft wood. Old Beijingers also called white wood "firewood", saying that furniture other than mahogany is not good and can only be used for chopping wood for fire. Examining its source, it probably came from the Qing Dynasty nobles who admired mahogany furniture, because most people would not hold this mentality.

Teak: a large deciduous tree, the origin is India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, etc., which are located in tropical regions. The material is hard, durable, beautiful in texture, small in drying shrinkage, not easy to deform, has good manufacturability, and is easy to process. Oak: Oak is produced in Northeast China and North Korea. It is also known as "Koryo wood", and it is called "Koryo oak" in the small utensils industry in Beijing. The wood is hard, with large patterns, clear and beautiful. It is listed after the red sandalwood and huanghuali in relevant historical materials in the Qing Dynasty. It is an excellent wood for making furniture in northern my country. Produced in northern Jiangsu, it is called "tussah needle". It is a species of oak wood. The wood grain is beautiful, very similar to the pattern of wenge, with slender needle-like bristles all over it, which looks similar to rosewood. When tussah wood is made into furniture, the color is light apricot yellow, and after a period of use, it turns into ochre red. The texture is clear and beautiful, and it is easy to pack the pulp. Old furniture made of tussah wood is generally a style that imitates the Ming style in the mid-Qing Dynasty.

Elm: There are more than a dozen species of elm, grown in the north, with hard texture, heavy weight, straight wood grain, and pattern, but the structure is relatively thick. The sapwood is dark yellow and the heartwood is purple-red, and the distinction is obvious. It has good manufacturability and is easy to process. It is one of the fine materials for northern furniture.

Phoebe nanmu: Phoebe nanmu is also called scull and collapsed wood, and is mainly produced in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei and other places in China. According to "Bo Gu Yao Lan", "There are three kinds of Phoebe nanmu, one is Phoebe nan, the second is Phoebe cinnamon, and the third is Phoebe." Phoebe, the wood is slightly purple and fragrant, with beautiful texture. In the stream of Phoebe gilded out of the river, the wood grain has golden threads on the bright side, and the most beautiful ones can naturally form the patterns of landscapes and figures. The color of Phoebe is clear and the wood is very loose. The wood used for furniture in the Ming and Qing Dynasties is mostly Phoebe. Nanmu cannot be painted or waxed. Because after painting and waxing, the color of phoebe will turn black and lose its original color. Phoebe has strong moisture and corrosion resistance, is durable and does not deteriorate, has mild wood properties, is light in body, does not swell or swell, and does not warp or crack. Due to its mild wood properties, it is not cold in winter. It is often used to make tables and Luohan beds. Its advantages are compared with other hardwoods. Beech: Also known as alderwood, stalactite, also known as big-leaf beech, white beech, noodle tree, red plant tree, red beech, yellow beech, stone tree, etc. Because it is produced in the south of our country, it is also called "Nanyu". It belongs to the Ulmus family, a deciduous tree that grows several meters high. It grows in the Yangtze River valley and southern provinces of my country. It is the most important material for folk furniture during the Ming and Qing Dynasties in China. There is a saying in the south of the Yangtze River that there is no beech without beech. The material is firm and durable, and the texture is beautiful and shiny. Among them, there is a kind of red-colored old beech wood called "blood beech", which is very similar to rosewood, which is the best product of beech wood; there is also a wood grain that resembles mountain undulations. The beech wood with the pagoda pattern is often embedded in the conspicuous place of the furniture. Among the white wood furniture in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the light color of beech wood furniture is closest to that of Huanghuali furniture, and the most made by "Suzu", and the workmanship is the same as that of Huanghuali furniture.
