In terms of trade mode, the import of small border trade was 488000 cubic meters, an increase of 8.8% month on month, accounting for 82.2% of the total timber import at Manzhouli Port in the same period; The import of general trade was 103000 cubic meters, an increase of 5.1% month on month, accounting for 17.4%; The rest are imported in the form of processing trade. In terms of the nature of enterprises, private enterprises are absolutely dominant, importing 578000 cubic meters, an increase of 7.6% month on month, accounting for 97.3%; The rest are imported by state-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises.
From the perspective of importing countries, 591000 cubic meters of timber were imported from Russia, an increase of 8.1% month on month, accounting for 99.6%; The rest is imported from Belarus. In terms of commodity types, 461000 cubic meters of imported plates increased by 15.5% month on month, accounting for 77.7%; Imported logs were 132000 cubic meters, a month on month decrease of 10.6%, accounting for 22.3%.
It is noteworthy that, affected by Russia's tightening timber export policy, China's timber imports from Russia continue to decrease, and its proportion in the total national timber imports (hereinafter referred to as the proportion) has decreased from 28.9% in 2017 to 22.3% in the first seven months of this year. At the same time, in order to curb the rise of domestic timber prices and stimulate timber enterprises to produce high value-added products, Russia announced a ban on the export of coniferous logs or rough processed timber from 2022.
Therefore, Manzhouli customs will continue to pay attention to the timber import and export policies of various countries, guide enterprises to actively respond to policy changes and broaden import channels. At the same time, encourage the wood processing industry to "go global", set up production and processing bases such as papermaking and primary wood processing in Russia, and increase the import of intermediate products.
