Gabon Log Supply Disruption: 2021 Weather & Transport Snapshot

Delays in trucking (and now bad weather again) are affecting the flow of timber in Gabon. As a result of the enforcement of the new crown pneumonia control measures, trucks can only be transported 1-2 times a week, as opposed to 2-3 times before.

　　The veneer mills in the special economic zone mainly use Okoume. The current situation is that in order for the veneer mill to operate normally, it must accept logs of lower grades from the sawmill and cut out wood embryos from these low-quality logs. Suppliers reported that the prices of Okoume sawn timber are rising, and they are currently facing pressure from Chinese buyers.
