Sabah timber supply and labor will be a challenge after the epidemic

According to Tan Peng Juan, Chairman of the Sabah Timber Industry Association (STIA), the Sabah Timber Industry has experienced a decline in almost all sub-sectors in 2020. He said that the export volume of the two main export products, plywood and sawn timber, fell by 44% last year.

　　 Tan Peng Juan said that he expects that when demand picks up, many upstream and downstream companies will face two key challenges-insufficient supply of raw materials and shortage of labor. Sabah's timber sector needs to address efficiency and competitiveness issues.
