The export price of New Zealand pine logs rises by about US$5

The price of AWG in March was the same as that in February. It is expected that the price of AWG in April will mainly depend on the relative increase in log prices and transportation costs. At the same time, changes in the exchange rate will also affect the price trend. Due to the stable price of AWG, the PF Olsen Log price index remained at $130 at the end of March. The index is currently $10 higher than the two-year average, $6 higher than the three-year average, and $6 higher than the five-year average.

　　 Generally speaking, New Zealand's domestic timber demand is still strong, especially for sawn timber. However, prices have remained stable. Although there have been news of supply shortages in some areas, they have not been effectively confirmed.

　　 At present, the CFR price of New Zealand pine logs exported to the country has risen by about US$5 in the past month, and there is still an upward trend. The price of Class A logs is currently about US$148/JASm3. Considering the rising transportation costs, exporters are expected to increase their prices steadily in the next second quarter in order to ensure profits.
