Frequently Asked Questions
What is plain sliced pine veneer and how does it differ from rotary-cut veneer?
Plain sliced pine veneer is produced by slicing the log tangentially to the growth rings, which reveals the characteristic cathedral (flame-shaped) grain pattern across the veneer face. Rotary-cut veneer is peeled from a spinning log in a continuous sheet, producing a wider but less natural-looking grain pattern. For visible, decorative applications such as furniture faces and door skins, plain sliced veneer is the preferred choice due to its superior aesthetic quality and closer resemblance to solid-sawn timber.
What thickness options are available, and can I order a custom size?
Our standard thickness is 0.5 mm, and the full range available is 0.3 mm to 0.9 mm. Custom thickness within this range is available based on your substrate requirements, adhesive system, and production process. We can also provide custom cutting sizes and veneer matching — please share your technical specifications when enquiring.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) and production lead time?
The minimum order quantity is 1 × 20-foot GP container. Production and loading are completed within 15 days of receiving a deposit payment or a confirmed irrevocable Letter of Credit. Our monthly capacity of 15,000 CBM allows us to accommodate both regular replenishment orders and large one-time programmes.
Is the pine veneer suitable for painting, staining, and other surface finishes?
Yes. Plain sliced pine veneer is fully compatible with painting, staining, clear coating, UV lacquer, and oil finishing. The smooth, clean surface and controlled moisture content (≤12%) provide excellent adhesion for all major finishing systems. It is equally suitable for opaque painted furniture, natural wood-tone stain applications, and high-gloss UV-cured finishes.
What payment terms do you accept for export orders?
We accept T/T (Telegraphic Transfer) and 100% irrevocable Letter of Credit (L/C) at sight. For new customers, we typically require a deposit upon order confirmation. Please contact our sales team to discuss the specific deposit ratio and payment schedule applicable to your order value and region.
Can I request samples before placing a bulk order?
Yes — we actively encourage sample requests prior to bulk orders. Samples allow you to verify grain pattern, colour tone, surface smoothness, and thickness accuracy before committing to a container order. Contact us via the enquiry form or email to request a sample pack, and please specify the thickness and grade you require.
