Engineered birch laminated veneer lumber bed slats — significantly stronger than solid wood, warp-proof, and precisely consistent. Available in curved and flat profiles, full birch core or combination core, with E0/E1/E2 adhesive options.

The Engineering
Birch LVL is produced by bonding multiple thin birch veneer layers with adhesive under heat and pressure — the same engineered wood technology used for structural construction beams. The cross-grain lamination locks out every natural weakness in solid timber: knots, grain deviations, moisture pockets — all eliminated by design.
The result is a slat with higher bending strength, lower weight, zero warping risk, and dimensional precision that solid wood cannot match. Every slat in a set is identical — same stiffness, same thickness — delivering uniform support under the mattress with no weak points.

Profile Types
Both types use the same engineered birch LVL core. The profile shapes the entire sleep experience — choose based on mattress type and sleeper preference.
A level, rigid surface providing consistent firm support across the full mattress base. No flex — the slat maintains exactly the same height under load as without it. Ideal for mattresses that require a stable, non-flexing substrate.
Flat slats are the standard specification for memory foam and latex mattresses, which rely on a completely stable base to perform correctly and maintain their manufacturer warranty conditions.
A gentle upward arch engineered permanently into the lamination — not bent post-production. The arch flexes under body weight, maximising mattress contact area and distributing load more evenly across the body's pressure points.
The curved profile provides a natural suspension effect that reduces stress on hips, shoulders, and the lumbar region. Particularly beneficial for sleepers with back pain, joint conditions, or those who sleep on their sides.

Formaldehyde emission ≤0.5 mg/L. Near-zero — the highest standard. Specified for children's beds, healthcare furniture, premium bedroom environments, and projects with indoor air quality certification requirements.
Formaldehyde emission ≤1.5 mg/L. Meets European indoor furniture standards. Most common specification for quality bedroom furniture. Recommended for all standard residential bed applications.
Formaldehyde emission ≤5.0 mg/L. Suitable where slats will be fully enclosed within the bed frame structure. Lower cost option for commercial or budget applications.
Core Material
All veneer layers are birch throughout the full slat thickness. Provides the highest density, bending strength, and load capacity. Recommended for premium-specification beds, heavier load requirements, and markets where full-birch is specified.
Higher strength · Premium specificationCore layers combine poplar, birch, and beech veneers to optimise cost while maintaining structural performance. A birch or beech face veneer can be applied for a premium visible surface. Suitable for standard residential and commercial bed applications.
Lower cost · Versatile · Standard specificationKey Advantages
Bending strength exceeds equivalent solid timber. Supports heavy mattresses and occupants without deflection or snap risk over the lifetime of the bed.
Cross-grain lamination prevents cupping, bowing, and twisting — the slat that arrives flat stays flat in year ten, regardless of seasonal humidity changes.
Manufactured to specification: every slat in a set has the same thickness, width, and stiffness — ensuring uniform weight distribution with no weak or soft points.
Lower density than solid hardwood at equivalent thickness. Easier to handle in production and for end consumers assembling flat-pack bed frames.
Produced from fast-growing birch with efficient veneer-peeling processes. LVL extracts far more usable material per tree than sawing solid boards.
Custom width, length, thickness, profile (flat or curved), core material, adhesive grade, and face/back veneer options — specify exactly what your market requires.
The arch in a curved LVL slat is not a cosmetic feature. It is a structural element that fundamentally changes how the mattress and the body interact during sleep — distributing load more evenly and reducing localised pressure.
