Stronger than solid wood. Warp-proof. Moisture-stable. Engineered birch laminated veneer lumber bed slats for consistent mattress support and lasting comfort.

The Engineering Difference
Solid wood bed slats are limited by the natural defects within the timber — knots, grain deviation, and moisture pockets that cause warping, cracking, and uneven strength over time. Birch LVL eliminates these variables by design.
Thin birch veneer sheets are peeled, oriented, and bonded under heat and pressure. Each layer's grain alternates direction, locking out movement in all planes. The result is a slat with higher bending strength, lower weight, and zero warping — guaranteed to stay flat for the life of the bed.
| Property | Birch LVL | Solid Wood |
|---|---|---|
| Warp Resistance | ✓ Excellent | ✗ Susceptible |
| Dimensional Consistency | ✓ Precise, uniform | ✗ Variable by board |
| Strength-to-Weight Ratio | ✓ Superior | Moderate |
| Moisture Stability | ✓ Highly stable | ✗ Expands / contracts |
| Defect-Free Surface | ✓ No knots or splits | ✗ Natural defects present |
| Weight | ✓ Lighter | Heavier |

Product Types
Both types share the same engineered birch LVL core. The difference is the profile — and that choice shapes the entire sleeping experience.
A level, rigid surface that provides firm, even support across the entire mattress base. No flex — just consistent, stable foundation that keeps your mattress exactly where it should be.
The preferred choice for memory foam and latex mattresses, which require a solid, non-flexing base to perform correctly and maintain their warranty.
A gentle upward arch that acts as a suspension system — flexing slightly under body weight, distributing pressure more evenly, and reducing stress at hips and shoulders. The arch also provides more surface-to-mattress contact.
Widely recommended by physiotherapists for sleepers with back pain, and ideal for sprung or innerspring mattresses that benefit from a reactive base.

Key Benefits
Multi-layer lamination creates a bending strength that exceeds that of equivalent-size solid timber. Supports heavy mattresses and occupants without deflection or snap risk.
Unlike solid wood, LVL does not cup, bow, or twist with seasonal humidity changes. Your slats remain flat in year one and in year ten.
Precise manufacturing tolerances mean every slat in a set is the same thickness and stiffness. Weight is distributed evenly across the mattress, preventing sag zones.
Engineered construction resists the expansion and contraction that cause solid wood to creak, loosen, or warp when indoor humidity fluctuates seasonally.
Lower density than solid hardwood at equivalent thickness makes LVL slats easier to handle, ship, and install — without any loss of structural performance.
Birch veneers are peeled from sustainably managed fast-growing stock. The LVL process extracts far more usable material per tree than sawing solid boards.
Buyer's Guide
Measure the interior width and rail-to-rail length of your bed frame. Slat length must match the interior width precisely. Common widths: Single 90cm, Double 135cm, Queen 150cm, King 180cm. Custom sizes available for non-standard frames.
Memory foam and latex mattresses require flat slats — they must not flex. Sprung and innerspring mattresses work best with curved slats that allow the springs to engage fully. Check your mattress manufacturer's slat spacing recommendation (typically max 7cm gaps).
Prefer a firm, supportive feel? Choose flat slats. Need pressure relief or sleeping with back pain? Curved slats provide the suspension effect. Both types are available in birch LVL — the core engineering is identical.
Wider and thicker slats carry more load and allow larger gaps between them. Standard commercial slats run 53mm–68mm wide. Heavier mattresses and higher body weights benefit from 63mm+ width. Tell us your load requirement and we recommend the specification.
